For the past two days or so, various claims from Spain, Italy and England have emerged explaining Chelsea wanting to sign Sevilla star Jules Koundé.
On Wednesday, ABC Sevilla reported the Blues’ ‘interest is real’, but haven’t contacted the La Liga side to sign the defender.
There have been various reports from elsewhere suggesting the west London club are ready to offer money plus Kurt Zouma and/or Emerson Palmieri, but this hasn’t convinced Sevilla.
Julen Lopetegui’s side expect the Champions League winners to make a ‘great financial effort’ to secure the 22-year-old’s signature, and Marca now state the centre-back is currently in Portugal, waiting to find out whether or not he will continue with his current employer or start a new adventured in the Premier League.
It’s claimed Chelsea ‘want the defender’ but with ‘no formal offer’ yet, there’s ‘still a long way to go’ for the Stamford Bridge club to sign the France international.
Sevilla, for their part, have again made clear they aren’t willing to drop Koundé’s valuation below €70m.
Although the Spanish club have no intention to take Emerson as a part of the deal, Marca add ‘another movement can be made with Zouma’ [plus money] for the former Bordeaux man.
Either way, Marca are of the belief Chelsea ‘still have a long way to go’ to sign Koundé and things can only progress if and when they make a formal offer.
