Celtic defender Christopher Jullien is undergoing ‘in-depth examinations’ at Schalke ahead of a potential loan move to the club.

That’s according to journalist Dirk G Schlarmann, who provides an update on the potential transfer today.

Jullien was linked with a move to Schalke yesterday, with reports explaining a loan deal had been agreed, and he was on his way for a medical.

That’s where Schlarmann picks up on things, slightly pulling back on what others have said about the move.

He says that due to the Celtic man having ‘quite an injury history’, Schalke are being cautious, and any medical examinations will be ‘in-depth’.

Until those are completed, there will be no ‘final talks’ between the two clubs over the proposed loan deal.

However, there is a complication on that front as well, as for the player to arrive on loan in Germany, he will first have to sign a contract extension with Celtic as his contract with the Scottish champions is due to expire in 2023.

Thus, there is work to be done on multiple fronts if this deal is to get over the line.
