After his loan move from Sunderland, Jeremain Lens is probably the best player Fenerbahce have currently, despite not being able to impress David Moyes in the summer. He’s proven to be a real crowd favourite with his tremendous attacking displays and Fenerbahce are considering already if he’ll stay beyond the current season.
A fantastic free-kick goal against Manchester United in the Europa League adding to his great performances for the Sarı-Kanaryalar, Lens has already won his place back in the Netherlands national team.
So HaberTurk and Milliyet talked to Lens over the weekend and the Dutchman’s comments made Fenerbahce fans love him even more.
Lens said: ”I’m enjoying my time at Fenerbahce so far. I have couple of injuries and I have to be careful. But if I’m on the pitch I’ll always give my 100%. That’s my style. And I want to thank every Fenerbahce fan for the love they’ve shown me so far. I am enjoying it here. This is a really, really big club with passionate fans.”
Lens also asked about his plans after his loan spell expires and he said: ”I don’t know. It’s not only depending on me. There are other factors. Here at Fener, we’re challenging for trophies. No disrespect to them but this was not the case when I played for Sunderland. Every player wants to play for silverware. If you ask me if I want to stay at Fenerbahce; ‘100% Yes.’ But as I’ve said before there are other factors.”
The Dutch winger has scored two and assisted five in 8 games for Fenerbahce and his performances have also boosted compatriot Robin van Persie. It looks like he’s not in any hurry to convince David Moyes he has a Sunderland future.
