As Brighton & Hove Albion continue to look for a replacement for Graham Potter, one of the names who have been linked to the job was Lens boss Franck Haise.
Recent reports from the English media claimed that French coach in the Seagulls’ list, and with the rumour getting strongly to his home country, the manager himself was asked about that subject today.
Speaking at a press conference (via RMC Sport), Haise started by saying there’d be “no comment’ on the rumours. Then he ended up saying he’s flattered by the interest.
“It’s like the players who are solicited. It obviously has a value. The first value is the work. In the same way that I was asked to take the pro team of Lens, it was a recognition of the work of what I was doing with the reserve team. I’m currently here, at this moment, to talk about our match in Nantes.”
Despite the links with Haise, we’ve seen reports from France this week claiming that Brighton’s priority is actually to sign an English manager, with local candidates ‘standing out’ among the foreigners.
Still, the same story claimed that Kjell Knutsell, Ole Gunner Solskjaer and Roberto De Zerbi were other names being considered.
We’ve also recently covered claims from South America which said the Seagulls made approaches for the likes of Abel Ferreira and Jorge Sampaoli, but both of them turned down their contacts as they’d rather work in Brazil instead.
