Last week, we covered claims from Argentina which stated Leeds United are hovering over to sign River Plate goalkeeper Jeremías Conan Ledesma.
It was also said River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo is ready to let him go in the winter market.
Soy del Millo cover Leeds and Deportivo Alavés’ interest in the 31-year-old and rule out an exit for him in January.
Franco Armani is the first-choice stopper for Gallardo. Ledesma made four appearances since arriving at the club last summer and his situation has caught the attention of the Whites and Alavés.
Earlier claims have stated the River Plate manager is ready to let the Leeds target leave, but journalist Juan Cortese has now dismissed this suggestion. He provided an update on Ledesma’s future on his YouTube channel and Soy del Millo have relayed his comments.
“For now, Jeremías Ledesma has NO chance of leaving and, ultimately, Gallardo has no intention of getting rid of him. Today he has his role due to the great level of Franco Armani,” he said.
“It is clear that Gallardo does not want him to leave. He is a quality goalkeeper and will probably have more minutes than one can imagine this season, taking into account the large number of games.
“It is clear that Armani will be River’s goalkeeper for as long as he wants, but, at any time, Ledesma can begin to be River’s goalkeeper in some games when he is needed: in the Argentine Cup or in one of those decisive games for the calendar requirement.”
This should ‘put a stop’ of Leeds’ interest and Alavés manager Eduardo Coudet’s advances for the player. In other words, a January exit for Ledesma has been ruled out.
