Everton youngster Jarrad Branthwaite has insisted it was a no brainer for him to join PSV Eindhoven in the summer.
The 20-year-old left Everton to join the Dutch side on loan until he end of the season, with the arrivals of James Tarkowski and Connor Coady meaning game time would have been limited at Goodison Park this season.
The move sees him reunite with former Everton director of football Marcel Brands, who originally signed him from Carlisle and was keen to take him to the Netherlands.
He’s made six appearances for the Eredivisie since, largely playing a substitute role under Ruud van Nistelrooy so far.
That is more regular game time than he would have had at Everton, though, where he managed just 822 minutes of football last season, 288 of which were in the Premier League 2.
He’s more than happy with how things are going so far, and believes the move was an obvious one for him to make because of his relationship with Brands.
“Since then (signing for Everton) we have had a very good relationship. Not only with each other, but also with my family and business manager,” Voetbal 4 u report him saying.
“When he called me and asked if I wanted to come to PSV, it was a no-brainer. I have confidence in him, and PSV is a great club.
“I am now at an age where I need playing time to develop. That’s the reason I came to PSV.
“I want to play as many games as possible here, which towards the future can contribute to my development.”
