Aston Villa’s Matty Cash last featured for Poland in March 2024 against Estonia.
Poland manager Michał Probierz left him out of the squad for last summer’s Euros. The 27-year-old admitted it was painful to miss out. He was made aware of his omission via the Polish media and didn’t receive an explanation from the manager.
The Aston Villa player missed September’s matches with Poland due to an injury and was left out of the squad for the last two international breaks.
TVP Sport now claim there were suggestions in the media that the right-back has had a conflict with Probierz. The national team manager has always tried to play it down.
Cash has already joined the training camp on Monday, where Probierz was seen joking with him. He also collided with the fullback during an open training session.
According to TVP Sport, this indicates there’s no bad blood between the pair and that was also confirmed by manager during Monday’s press conference.
“Recently, Matty Cash was injured before each training camp and could not be called up. I will emphasise once again that there is no bad blood between him and me. I have been in touch with him for some time, I have talked to him,” he said.
Unai Emery uses Cash as a right-back while the Aston Villa man could operate as a winger for Poland in Probierz’s 3-5-2 formation.
“We’ll see how the situation develops in training. On Wednesday we will have a training session with the whole team. Today, however, only as a winger,” Probierz explained.
