A story from Gazzetta Dello Sport today has brought back old rumours linking Arsenal to the Brazilian midfielder Ramires.

The interest from the Gunners had been reported at the end of the last year, when it was confirmed by Sport Witness that the club had scouts in Brazil watching the player.

Now as covered by us earlier today, the Italian media says there’s still a battle going on between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid for the teenager, with Milan also keeping an eye on him.

It’s was described as an arm wrestling contest.

However, as learned by Sport Witness this Friday, none of these clubs have made contact with Ramires’ entourage so far.

His agents have only become aware of this supposed interest via the media.

So even if Arsenal are impressed by the 18-year-old after the performances they’ve seen in Brazil, maybe they will only make an attempt to sign the midfielder when the summer transfer window arrives.
