The English reports regarding West Ham United’s alleged interest in Sporting winger Marcus Edwards may have made a big noise in the Portuguese media, but that story is still to get confirmed by them.

Earlier today, we covered a piece from A Bola which just made it clear that in case the Hammers do go for the signing, they’d need to trigger the player’s €60m release clause, as the Lions will not negotiate his departure in the middle of the season.

Now as Record features a story on this chase, they claim that despite the reports from England, West Ham have actually made ‘no approaches’ to sign Edwards yet.

It’s said the Hammers are still to make any contact for the signing, and if they do, they’re set to face competition from Ligue 1 and Premier League clubs.

Marcus Edwards has six goals and five assists in 25 appearances this season.

Sporting are on top of the table and promised manager Ruben Amorim they won’t negotiate any exits in the middle of the season, so only release clauses will take them from the club in January.
