Aston Villa manager Unai Emery didn’t rely upon Diego Carlos regularly this season and he made eight starts in the Premier League.

On January 23rd, the centre-back left the Villans for Fenerbahçe on a permanent transfer. Three days later, he made his debut for his new club by coming off the bench against in their 3-2 win Göztepe SK.

At the weekend, the former Aston Villa man made his first start for the Turkish club against Çaykur Rizespor. The 31-year-old was on the pitch for 81 minutes and was replaced by Cenk Tosun.

The Brazilian has suffered an injury setback at Fenerbahçe, as reported by Sports Digitale journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Carlos will be out of action for more than a month.

Sabuncuoğlu hasn’t provided any details of the injury or when the ex-Aston Villa defender suffered this setback. Either way, it’s a nightmare scenario for the South American with the Yellow Canaries after a mixed season at Aston Villa.

Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho will be hoping for Carlos to return to action soon.
