It seems a decision has been made at Manchester City, which is that Jesus Navas’ contract will not be renewed beyond this season.
With his current deal running out in June, the forward/right-back is free to talk to European clubs as much as he wants to, and two teams are rumoured to be interested.
One of them is his former club Sevilla, while the other is Roma, who have just announced Sevilla’s former director of football as their new man in the role.
While rumours emerged Monchi had met Jesus Navas recently in Manchester to discuss a potential transfer to the Italian capital, contact has also been made between the player and Sevilla.
Speaking in a press conference, both the Spanish club’s new director of football, Oscar Arias, and the club’s chairman José Castro commented on the prospect of Jesus Navas returning to the club, relayed by Estadio Deportivo.
The former said: “There’s no need to talk him up. On a personal level, he’s a top player. It’s a more than interesting option for Sevilla, but also for him as a guy from here and an elite footballer.”
As for the chairman, Castro didn’t exactly hide his desire to see Navas in a Sevilla shirt either: “It would be nice for us. No steps have been taken, but there has been contact. Hopefully, we can get into it in more detail soon.”
Jesus Navas leaving the Etihad and returning home is becoming a real possibility, it seems.
