Malmo defender Pontus Jansson has spoken to the Swedish media about coming up against Pawel Cibicki, who he played with both at Leeds United and at the Swedish side.
The pair had a spell together at Elland Road and this week they came up against each other when Malmo clashed with IFK Varnamo.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Jansson was asked about his thoughts about coming up against his ex-Leeds United college.
The 34-year-old said it was good to again see Cibicki after their time together in England and Sweden. Jansson then went on to say he’s happy Cibicki is back after his recent troubles.
“It was fun to see him back. He’s had a tough time and me, and Pawel have a history too, both in England and in Sweden, so it’s great to see that he’s doing well. He’s the same, then he had a pretty tough time with me,” said the central defender.
Jansson became something of a cult hero during his time at Leeds United and he spent two seasons with the west Yorkshire club before his move to Brentford. He spent four seasons with the London club before returning to his boyhood side Malmo.
In contrast Cibicki had an up and down time in his time in England and despite showing early promise he made just ten appearances for them. The 31-year-old spent most of time at Leeds United out on loan before being sold to Polish side Pogoń Szczecin in 2020.
