For the past two weeks or so, claims from both England and Croatia have stated Hajduk Split are expected to agree a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Luka Vušković’s transfer.

On September 13th, Sportske Novosti reported the 16-year-old had travelled to London for a medical with Spurs and would return to Hajduk Split until the end of this year, with an option to extend =that until the summer of 2025.

TuttoMercatoWeb have interviewed Vušković’s former teammate Marco Fossati, who has given an insight on what Tottenham could expect from the defender.

The 30-year-old Italian was at Hajduk Split between 2021 and 2023, and played alongside the centre-back in his final months at the Croatian club. The latter made eight appearances for the senior team in the second half of last season.

When asked about young talents from Croatia, the midfielder talked about the Tottenham target.

“At Hajduk, for example, I was particularly struck by Luka Vušković, a 16-year-old central defender. Last year he was a regular starter with us in the last month. So much so that huge clubs moved for him,” he said.

“I remember there was talk of Manchester City, Arsenal, Milan and Juventus, but he can probably go to Tottenham. Physically he’s fit, has nice feet, great personality. Vušković is a really good player, very good.”

Even if Tottenham were to agree a deal with Hajduk Split now, Vušković won’t be eligible to obtain a work permit to play in England until he turns 18 years of age in February 2025.
