Serie A side Cagliari are hoping in the coming days to seal a deal to sign Juventus midfielder Mauricio Isla, according to claims in Italy. The Chile international looks surplus to requirements with the Serie A champions, and has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Watford and West Ham United keen on the player.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has this morning revealed Cagliari officials are set for further meetings with Juventus over the next few days with regards to Isla signing for the Sardinian club. Cagliari have just returned to Serie A after a season absence, and are looking to strengthen their squad to consolidate their place in the top flight.
Following previous meetings Isla has become more convinced about joining Cagliari, and it now looks like he will be joining the Italian side.
This will come as a blow to Watford and West Ham who were both keen to sign the former QPR player this summer. In particular Watford will be disappointed if they miss out on Isla as he was a player requested by new manager Walter Mazzarri after the South American played under him when he was the coach of Napoli.
