Over a week ago, we carried a report from Sport, who explained ‘all eyes’ are on Newcastle United for Philippe Coutinho after other suitors cooled their interest in the 27-year-old.

The Brazil international is currently on loan at Bayern Munich and will return to Barcelona after finishing this campaign with the Bavarian club.

According to Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico, the La Liga winners’ idea is sell the playmaker by the end of next month (as Bundesliga is expected finish on June 27th).

The player’s desire is to return to the Premier League this summer and the report mentions clubs from England are contacting his agent Kia Joorabchian and Barca.

Steve Bruce’s side also get a mention, but Mundo states ‘unofficially it’s also known’ the Magpies are interested in the former Liverpool star.

It isn’t clear who is aware (the La Liga winners or his agent) of the Tyneside club’s interest in the South American.

The likeliest possibility is intermediaries who have connections with Newcastle could have approached either Barca or Coutinho’s representative.

Quique Setién’s side have set his valuation around €80-90m, but the newspaper adds the Spanish champions are ready to do business if a potential suitor comes close to their demands.
