Jetro Willems was one of the players Newcastle United signed in the summer, albeit on a loan basis.

He arrived at St James’ Park from Eintracht Frankfurt and as part of the deal, the Magpies have an option to make the left-back’s transfer permanent after this season.

After coming off the bench against Arsenal in the first match-day, he was dropped for the next two fixtures.

Since then he has made four starts in the league, managing a goal against Liverpool and assisting Matt Longstaff’s winner against Manchester United.

Fussball Transfers have hailed the 25-year-old as they suggest he is ‘developing into a high performer’ for the Tyneside club. Despite that, the Dutchman’s future beyond his loan spell is ‘still unclear’.

Steve Bruce’s side are just one point above relegation zone and they could be in for a long season.

Thus, there should be more clarity towards next summer as to how things will continue for both Newcastle and Willems.
