Following the arrival of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, Newcastle United have been constantly linked with a move for Ousmane Dembélé.
The Frenchman is out of contract come the end of the season, and despite Barcelona wanting to renew him, he has yet to agree to that.
A lot has to do with his agent, who, according to Sport, is ‘managing various offers from the Premier League’, with one of them being Newcastle’s.
That’s nothing new, since both the Magpies and Manchester United have been commonly associated with the winger, but it seems the best on the table remains that from St James’ Park.
The newspaper look at the eight ‘keys’ to the Dembélé situation, and it’s said that ‘without a doubt’ the ‘most spectacular’ offer is that of Newcastle.
That’s the €15m per year and €15m signing on bonus one, but the forward has, so far, ‘not been receptive’, because ‘beyond the money’, the project on offer right now under Eddie Howe is ‘in its infancy’ compared to Barcelona’s.
He’s free to legally talk to clubs from January 1st onwards, so we’ll have to wait and see about that, but if Newcastle do drag themselves out of the relegation zone in the coming months, all could change.
