Newcastle United have showed willingness to sign Isco on a free transfer, according to claims coming out of Spain.

The attacking midfielder left Real Madrid when his contract with them expired on June 30th. He is yet to find a new club and his agent, Jorge Mendes, is already at work to find a new destination for his client.

Friday’s edition of AS states the 30-year-old has suitors across Europe and this includes Newcastle and AS Roma. He has not been lacking approaches for the past few months.

José Mourinho’s side offered him a two-year deal worth €4m net per season plus a signing on bonus. Galatasaray were ready to surpass the proposal made by the Serie A club for the Spain international.

With regards to the Magpies, the report explains Newcastle have been ‘willing to put even more money’ on the table. So far, Eddie Howe’s side have not made any firm proposal to Isco because of his unwillingness to join them.

AS explain money doesn’t seduce the player and his future is likely to be in Spain. A move abroad could only be considered if the club can offer Champions League football.

Real Betis and Sevilla have emerged as two possibilities for Isco in La Liga. It’s claimed Julen Lopetegui insists his side sign the player, but his salary has become a problem for them.

The report adds the ex-Malaga star is willing to take a pay cut to join them. Isco’s arrival at Sevilla will depend on them adjusting ‘many things’ with regards to their squad and finances.

If Sevilla or Betis fail to sign Isco, then Newcastle could come back into the picture and convince him to join them.
