With Newcastle United still named as one of the contenders for the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli, Italian outlet Calciomercato today brings some updates on the winger’s situation.
The Serie A side are currently working to get his contract renewal, although there’s no rush, as he’s currently commited to the club until 2027.
A big reason for a pay raise is the interest from other European sides, and that’s where Newcastle get a mention.
Calciomercato say the Magpies are along with Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barça in the list of ‘admirers’ Kvaratskhelia has.
Napoli are aware of the big interest the winger attracts, and president Aurelio De Laurentiis ‘will not listen’ to offer that are below €100m, and there is a risk that, next summer, ‘monstrous figures’ could ‘make the president falter’ once the season comes to a close.
Kvaratskhelia hasn’t had a brilliant start to the season but is still showing good numbers, with three goals and five assists in 15 appearances.
Now if Newcastle really want to sign him, they better make a move before the contract extension is agreed, as that could make matters a bit more complicated, all depending on whether a release clause is included in it.
