Newcastle United will come calling for for Feyenoord star Luis Sinisterra, according to Dutch journalist Maarten Wijffels.
The winger has had a stellar campaign so for with the Eredivisie side, scoring nine goals and registering six assists in 17 matches across all competitions.
His current deal with the Rotterdam based club will run down in 2024 and he is currently valued at around €11m.
However, Wijffels is of the belief the Colombia international will become Feyenoord’s record sale in the suture. He further stressed the attacker should help his club raise between €20m and €25m in funds.
The current record is held by Dirk Kuyt, who was sold for around €18m to Liverpool in 2006. The journalist made the claims about the Magpies and Sinisterra in his podcast for newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, Voetbalpodcast.
“This will be the 20 million sale that will go through,” Wijffels said, quoted by FR-Fans.nl, when referring to the failed sale of Nicolai Jørgensen.
“He has a lot, that goal against Union Berlin that Jahanbakhsh made. Like he sometimes takes the ball, always facing forward. A really wonderful player. Newcastle United will immediately start bidding.”
Wijffels’ comments doesn’t make it clear if Newcastle are actually interested in Sinisterra or if the journalist simply believes the Tyneside club can afford paying around €20-25m for a player now that they have a lot of money in their bank account.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
