As things stand, the only offer Lorenzo Insigne has on the table is one from Toronto in the MLS.
It’s big news in Italy, with the belief the Napoli star, should he accept, could earn around €40m over the next five years.
However, there are still some interested clubs in the Premier League, with both Newcastle and West Ham United reportedly after him.
That comes from Corriere della Sera, who report that the two Premier League clubs have ‘probed’ the player’s agent, Vincenzo Pisacane, ‘but none would have guaranteed the player a much higher salary’ than what Napoli want to give him to renew.
Therefore, ‘the story between Insigne and the team from the city where he was born should end in June’.
This comes a day after it was claimed that Newcastle had offered the Italy international a deal worth €7m after tax, which contradicts what Corriere della Sera are reporting.
As for West Ham, they weren’t mentioned on Tuesday, but this isn’t the first time both the Magpies and the Hammers have been brought in together when it comes to Insigne, as the two were mentioned earlier this month as well.
It seems that if they are really serious about Insigne, they are going to have to up their contractual offers.
