For the past few days, the Italian media had been making big coverage of AC Milan’s squad situation, as there have been a few players who are recovering from injuries and are hopeful of making their comeback prior to the Champions League clash against Arsenal.

Portuguese star Rafael Leão is one of them, and according to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Rossoneri are getting some ‘bad news’ on that front.

The outlet writes that the midfielder will not be available for tomorrow’s Serie A match against Atalanta, because even though he partially trained with the squad in recent days, he’s not making it to the match day squad.

The story claims the ‘objective’ is to have him in the team that will face Newcastle United on Wednesday.

In a press conference earlier today, manager Stefano Pioli had claimed that the decision would be made in the afternoon, and it seems TuttoMercatoWeb were the first to get the news.

Newcastle will certainly be watching the situation, probably hoping that Leão doesn’t fully recover to be 100% at St. James’ Park next week so they don’t have to deal with him.
