Newcastle United may be full of money to spend on the summer transfer window, but their lack of big goals for the next season continues to be a problem to convince players to join the club.

This is an issue we’ve seen many times since the Magpies’ takeover, and is once again mentioned today by newspaper A Bola, who talk about the future of Matheus Nunes.

Newcastle are said to be one of the most interested clubs when it comes to the Sporting midfielder, but according to the newspaper, they don’t seem to ‘present a sporting project’ that could convince the player of signing for them.

The Lions demand €45m to let the player go, and A Bola points out the Magpies do have the financial capacity to sign him. Still, it’s said that even though they may be able to agree with Sporting, they’ll ‘hardly’ do the same with the midfielder, who’d like to fight for titles and play in the Champions League.

It turns out that the Matheus Nunes saga may not last very long. Because as reported by newspaper Record, agent Jorge Mendes is currently in England and the player’s future could be defined ‘in the coming days’.

The agent is said to be searching for a club who will pay €50m for the player, and as the outlet names the sides who’ve been linked to him, Newcastle are there again.
