Following reports from the European media claiming Newcastle United are interested in the signing of Atletico Madrid fullback Renan Lodi, it’s time for the Brazilian press to talk about it.
It’s now journalist André Hernan who confirms that the Magpies are willing to land the 24-year-old this summer.
On Twitter, the journalist says Lodi is in Newcastle’s ‘sights’, with the Premier League side looking to ‘build a stronger team for 2023’.
His report doesn’t bring any other details on the chase, although it’s interesting to see that the Brazilian media is now on board with this story as well.
Newcastle’s interest in Lodi had first been reported by the Spanish media, who claimed that after signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico in January, the Magpies now wanted their other full-back.
It was then the Italian press who talked about the interest, claiming that with the English side looking to sign him, that would complicate the pursuit from Juventus, who are not confident they could win this battle.
Lodi has a good friendship with Bruno Guimarães, and that could help Newcastle to convince him of making the move.
