Since Newcastle United found themselves out of Mike Ashley’s hands and under the ownership of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund they’ve been thrown headfirst into the rumour mill all around the football world.
The change seen the club linked with multiple players they wouldn’t have been otherwise, and that’s the case again today with a claim from InterLive.
They state Lautaro Martinez has long been a ‘dream’ for multiple Premier League clubs, with sides such as Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea having been linked in the past.
Now it’s the turn of Newcastle, and the Magpies are said to be willing to ‘double his salary’. The Argentine striker currently earns €7m per season, a figure which is likely to be after tax, so it would be a huge effort from Eddie Howe’s side.
On top of that, they’d make an ‘incomparable’ offer to Inter Milan, although there’s no figures mentioned in regards to that.
Lautaro Martinez has played 15 games so far this season, scoring seven goals and adding five assists. The 25-year-old has a contract lasting until 2026.
