Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka has ended up on Newcastle United’s summer target list, according to Bild.
The defender has impressed for the German club, managing four goals and four assists from 29 league matches. He had a goal and an assist in his side’s 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim at the weekend.
After the tie, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche praised the 22-year-old. Their manager, Oliver Glasner, was a bit critical of his performance on Saturday, urging him to “still work on” his game.
The centre-back also impressed for the Bundesliga side in their Europa League quarter-final triumph over Barcelona. His performances seem to have caught the attention of the Tyneside club.
It’s claimed Newcastle United ‘want’ the Frenchman as the Magpies have his name on their transfer list for the next window. That’s all the information Bild mention about Eddie Howe’s side.
Ndicka’s current deal runs down in 2023 and he’s currently valued at €28m. The report adds an extension is ‘still unrealistic’ and the club ‘want to sell’ him in the summer.
Krösche has already admitted that some of his side’s players have plans to change clubs after this term. It’s likely the defender is among those players.
The summer window will be Eintracht Frankfurt’s ‘last chance to collect a decent fee’ for Ndicka. Whether they will receive an offer from Newcastle United remains to be seen.
