Turkish Super League side Kayserispor look set to sign Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote, claim AjansSpor. It’s been reported the Ivorian’s agent has flown to Kayseri to finalise the deal, and if everything goes well Tiote will arrive in Turkey in the coming days.

Kayserispor are currently in the relegation zone in the Turkish Super League and were thrashed 5-0 at the weekend. Kayserispor manager Sergen Yalçın told reporters after the game his side are in danger of being relegated, and admits the team must be strengthened. The Kayserispor leaders have reacted to their manager’s comments and now look set to sign Tiote.

Tiote’s move to Galatasaray was called off last minute during the last window after the midfielder failed his medical. The Newcastle United player has also been linked with Bursaspor in the past couple of weeks, but it seems Kayserispor are now favourites to sign the midfielder.

Tiote has played very little this season under Rafael Benitez and needs to find a club who can give him more opportunities. It’s also been reported Kayserispor will sign Tiote on a free transfer because he has just 6 months remaining on his Newcastle United contract.

The midfielder has been at Newcastle since 2010 and has played over 100 games for the Magpies since joining from FC Twente.
