On February 6th, Bild reported Newcastle United are still keen on signing Can Uzun, after looking at the 1. FC Nürnberg star in the winter market.
Three days later, Ruhr Nachrichten stated the Magpies will provide competition to Borussia Dortmund. Earlier this week, Fussball News reported Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to get ahead of Eddie Howe’s side and others for the 18-year-old.
A fresh report from Bild claims the Newcastle target is a ‘dream’ for Eintracht Frankfurt and their sporting director, Markus Krösche, is working hard to sign him.
Amid interest from Newcastle and others, it’s claimed the Bundesliga side are currently in pole position. Their aim is to acquire the attacking midfielder’s services for just under €10m.
Nürnberg sporting director Dieter Hecking has said the Turkey U18 international could leave after this season. Earlier claims had stated the Turkey U18 international will make a decision on his future at the latest by first week of April.
Speaking to Mittelbayerischen Zeitung, Uzun has revealed that he’s yet to decide his next move, after confirming Eintracht Frankfurt’s approach.
“There have been discussions with Frankfurt, that’s true. But nothing has happened yet, neither with Frankfurt nor elsewhere. I will make it from my heart. Nobody else really has any influence on it,” he said, relayed by Bild.
This should give Newcastle hope, but they’ll have to act quickly to get ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt.
