Newcastle United midfielder Siem de Jong has told the Dutch media he wanted to sign for his former club Ajax in this window. De jong looks set to join his brother Luuk at PSV despite his desire to join Ajax.
Speaking to Ad, De Jong said he enjoyed his time at Ajax, where he won many titles, and was installed as the club captain. The Newcastle United star revealed he was open to PSV when they came in for him but he told them Ajax had first option, which he said the Dutch champions were fine with.
“I had a wonderful time at Ajax. I was four-time champion, and was captain. I have also been open with PSV when they first contacted me. At PSV they respected that I wanted to give Ajax the first option,” said the Newcastle United player.
Recently De Jong’s agent confirmed PSV were showing an interest in his client, but at the time they hadn’t entered into talks with PSV.
However, in the past few days his move to PSV has gathered momentum, and it looks now like he’ll join his brother Luuk at the Dutch side.
