Newcastle United ‘scrutinising’ potential signing – Magpies want ‘clarity’ on player’s fitness ahead of move

Newcastle United are again today linked to AS Roma star Paulo Dybala, even though that transfer isn’t happening any time soon.

Calcio Mercato features a story to say that the player isn’t going anywhere in January, as his €13m release clause is expiring tonight.

The outlet sounds confident that his exit won’t happen, but isn’t that sure about the summer scenario, as his future ‘is a puzzle’.

Newcastle are one of the clubs who are said to be ‘scrutinising’ the situation, although they want ‘clarity’ on his physical situation before moving for him.

Dybala’s future is said to be linked to José Mourinho’s, as the manager’s potential departure from the club could create a ‘domino effect’ which impacts the striker’s decisions.

That’s why Newcastle should now wait and see what happens between now and the summer. The player is also linked to Chelsea, as well as to Saudi clubs.

The release clause is also expected to be active again in July, but there’s also a chance that Roma will offer Dybala a new contract before that, ready to negotiate him for a little more.
