Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Alexis Saelemaekers in recent weeks but Newcastle United are also emerging as a candidate to land the Belgian.
Il Messaggero, as relayed by VoceGiallorossa, have reported on the winger, who is on loan at AS Roma from AC Milan.
The Giallorossi want to sign the Belgium international on a permanent basis but Milan value Saelemaekers at €20m, which is far beyond what Claudio Ranieri’s side can pay.
In the meantime, Roma would want to execute a deal that could involve Tammy Abraham but Milan have not shown an openness to that, even if the Englishman is currently on a loan deal at the San Siro.
This will hand a chance to Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in the summer and both the clubs are ‘ready to invest’ that amount due to their strong financial situations.
Both Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest can potentially qualify for the Champions League this season and this can enhance their chances of landing Saelemaekers in the summer.
The 25-year-old has done well this season, scoring six goals and racking up four assists. He has also shown his versatility, playing on either flank and he also played at full-back earlier in the season for Milan.
