Tuesday saw a series of leaks sent from Barcelona to their local media, in an attempt to inform fans of what to expect in the months leading to the summer transfer window.
One of the claims is around Ousmane Dembele, who has been brought back into Xavi Hernandez’s team despite refusing to sign a renewal. There had been claims the Frenchman would be ostracised, but that’s clearly not the case.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport says the attacker has ‘very succulent’ offers on the table from the Premier League, including from Newcastle United.
The Magpies were heavily linked during the January window, but it was thought he wasn’t keen on a move to Eddie Howe’s side at that time, with there then being a serious danger Newcastle could be relegated.
Sport say Barcelona won’t be making a new renewal offer to Dembele, and should he want to stay then he’ll have to accept what is already on the table for a new contract.
That likely won’t be as much as what Newcastle and others are prepared to pay, so it’s now decision time for the player.
