Newcastle United are still in the picture for Diego Carlos after failing to sign him in the winter market.
The Magpies were keen on taking the defender in January and made an ‘important’ offer to Sevilla. However, the latter turned it down and the Brazilian will finish the season with the Spanish club.
Carlos and Jules Koundé have been instrumental in helping Julen Lopetegui’s side have the best defence in La Liga this season as they have conceded 16 goals from 24 matches.
The Andalusian club could end up seeing either or both of them move elsewhere in the summer. According to Fichajes.net, Chelsea plan to make an offer the Frenchman, while Newcastle still like his teammate.
Therefore, Sevilla are looking for a new centre-back and Torino star Gleison Bremer is the ‘chosen one’. The 24-year-old signed a new deal with the Italian club earlier this month, but that has not put off his suitors.
Bremer has been the king-of-the-stats player as he is the ‘leader in clearances, blocks and interceptions in Serie A’. His performances have caught the attention from club across Europe and is pursued by Sevilla, Inter Milan and Eddie Howe’s side.
Newcastle have both Carlos and Bremer in their transfer target list and this could end up causing more trouble for Sevilla, in their efforts to have a strong defence next season.
