In the past few weeks, we’ve pointing out the situation that the Newcastle United target Lisandro Lopez has been through.

The player, who the Magpies reportedly negotiated for during the summer, has been getting few minutes for the Benfica, a reason why his agent publicly detailed his dissatisfaction.

But things change quite quickly in football, and it turns out that Lisandro will have a chance to start against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Champions League tonight.

As Luisão was suspended in the previous match and Jardel is not in his best physical condition, there were not many options for manager Rui Vitória if not to line up the Argentine the defender.

So in case Rafael Benitez is curious about how the player would do against a top Premier League side in England, a three-hour drive could solve that.

Newcastle would have to pay around €10m for a permanent deal, although a loan has also been mentioned by the Portuguese press, with a possibility of making some business even in the January window.

However, in case the player does pretty well and stops José Mourinho’s side tonight, then things would be likely to get a lot harder for Newcastle.
