On April 2nd, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Newcastle United have a proposal ready to sign Dean Huijsen, who’s currently on loan at AS Roma from Juventus. It was also reported the Magpies will tempt the Turin club with a €30m offer in the summer window.
This report surfaced days after De Telegraaf stated Newcastle are serious about signing the defender.
Newcastle have received encouragement in their pursuit of the 19-year-old as Gazzetta dello Sport state Juve are ready to sell him after this season.
The Dutch-born Spain U21 international has been a regular for Roma and his form seems to have impressed Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund and others. The Old Lady, for their part, could sell him and invest the money on signing Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.
Gazzzeta’s claim on the Magpies target is relayed by Calciomercato, who then provide the fee needed to convince Juve.
Huijsen’s deal at the Turin club lasts until 2028 and it’s claimed they value him at €30m, which is exactly the fee it was reported Newcastle will offer to Juventus.
That’s quite the coincidence and it feels like there’s a Juventus effort to get that €30m figure out there. The claims about Newcastle may therefore be stretched, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
