Newcastle United have joined the race to sign FC Basel star Arthur Cabral, according to claims from Brazil on Friday afternoon.
The Brazilian version of Goal says the Magpies are ‘one more interested’ side in the signing of the 23-year-old, as the club made contact with his entourage at the end of November.
It’s claimed that Newcastle are now ‘preparing an offer’ to be sent to Basel in the coming days, and they already ‘informed’ those involved that the official bid is on the way.
The intention is that it will be made before the start of next week.
Goal Brasil claims that the Magpies know Basel demand €15m for the move, and the St. James’ Park side are willing to offer ‘something close’ to that request.
Arthur Cabral has recently been linked to Barcelona and West Ham United, and that’s pointed out by Goal Brasil as well. They say Barça offer €15m in three equal instalments, while the Hammers are still to place their bid.
Arthur Cabral has impressive stats for Basel this season, with 25 goals and eight assists in 26 appearances. Looking at how things stand, it seems like a matter of time until he leaves Switzerland.
