The Chancel Mbemba saga continues. Even though Porto are signing Éder Militão from São Paulo, they won’t give up on the Newcastle United defender.
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã has a few words on the case today, saying that the Magpies ‘haven’t been making the negotiations easy’.
Although Newcastle’s demands had been reported as €9m, this time the outlet claims that they won’t let Mbemba leave for less than €6m, and Porto still struggle to pay that amount.
It’s also claimed that Mbemba is not staying in England, as he knows he’s not part of Rafa Benitez’s plans for the season, and sees the move to FC Porto ‘with good eyes’.
It’s funny that despite standstill, the Portuguese press is still very confident that the move is happening.
After reporting the problems in the negotiations, Correio da Manhã still writes that ‘the arrivals of Militão and Mbemba will give the manager more capacity to face the various competitions next season.’
