On Tuesday, Calciomercato reported Newcastle United have restarted contact with Malick Thiaw’s agent, who has been working to take the AC Milan player to the Premier League since January.
Later that day, Milan News said Eddie Howe’s side will need around €40m to convince the Italian club to sell Thiaw this summer.
Wednesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport backs that up, and provides more on Newcastle’s interest in the defender.
New Milan manager Paulo Fonseca considers the centre-back and Fikayo Tomori as the two starters. The Portuguese could be without the 22-year-old as the Rossoneri are open to parting ways with him this summer, two years after investing €9m to buy him.
The newspaper says Newcastle took note of his performances, especially the one against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League during the 2022/23 season.
It’s claimed the Tyneside club are studying the possibility of making an offer of around €30m. This won’t be enough to convince the Serie A side as the report says they would need at least €40m to negotiate Thiaw’s sale.
Milan are aiming to make a profit of over €30m from the former Schalke man’s sale and it’s now down to Newcastle to raise their offer by €10m, or to get deep into negotiating.
