In December, Newcastle United were linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko.

There was a belief that the Magpies would move for the right winger in the January transfer window.

That move didn’t materialise but the links haven’t gone away and Newcastle United are still a potential suitor for the 21-year-old.

TuttoSport have reported that Bakayoko was a target for Juventus in the summer transfer window. They tried to bring the Belgian to Turin but ended up settling with Francisco Conceicao.

PSV’s asking price was €50m in the summer and Juve offered a lower amount. Now, it is Newcastle United who are quite keen.

The report believes that they have monitored Bakayoko in the past and are now looking at him with ‘greater interest’ than before. There is confidence that Eddie Howe’s side are a leading candidate to sign the Belgium international, amidst interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.

Bakayoko has ten goals in all competitions this season and it is likely that PSV’s asking price for him has grown since the summer transfer window.
