Newcastle United have reportedly made a new bid for the signing of Nice’s Allan Saint-Maximin.
As reported by French outlet RMC today, the Magpies have now offered €18m to land the 22-year-old winger.
The outlet claims that Nice’s intention is to make €20m from the sale, but they are still to give Newcastle a response regarding this new bid.
The Premier League had already made a offer two days ago, as also reported by RMC. At the time, they put forward €16m.
It was already known Nice wouldn’t accept less than €20m for the youngster, who has a contract with the club until 2022. The €18m seems a reasonable meet-in-the-middle compromise.
Newcastle’s chase for Saint-Maximin has been going on for a while now, so it’s no surprise to see things finally getting to an advanced stage.
Saint-Maximin signed for Nice in a €10m deal from Monaco back in 2017. In his last season for the club, he scored six goals and made five assists in 36 appearances.
