Among the many names linked with a Newcastle United move in the past week, there was Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, with the Italian media claiming he’s on the Magpies’ wish list.

Despite being officially loaned by Fiorentina, the player is set to soon be signed by the Old Lady on a permanent deal. That would cost them €40m plus €10m on add-ons.

With the winger doing well since joining Juve in the summer of 2020, the Italian press now sees a good chance for the club to make a profit with his sale, and that’s why a potential move abroad is frequently pushed.

So as Il Giornale (via Tutto Juve) talks about the situation, Newcastle are once again named as one of the clubs who could afford Chiesa.

The outlet points out that Chiesa currently makes €5m per season at Juventus, and a few clubs could pay that much, including ‘the new wealth of Newcastle’.

The winger, however, would cost a huge fee given the competition he could draw. The same source says Juventus have been getting approaches close to €100m, so a potential move to the Magpies would really depend on how much the new ownership are willing to invest in short term.

Theoretically, even if Newcastle United or another club went as high as €150m, and Juventus agreed to sell, it would still be hugely questionable whether Chiesa would be keen on the move.
