Some days ago, Newcastle United were linked with a move for Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

More has now emerged about the Magpies’ interest in the Frenchman and LaLazioSiamoNoi have reported on the player’s future.

The outlet claim that Newcastle United are proving to be a ‘threat’ to Lazio in their hope of keeping Guendouzi beyond this season. The Magpies can start their move for the ex-Arsenal player ‘in the coming weeks’ as they are now said to be ramping up their interest in him.

The France international has been described as a ‘concrete objective’ for Eddie Howe’s side and there is little surprise that he is attracting major interest once again.

The report states that Newcastle United view Guendouzi as a replacement for Sandro Tonali and if the Italian departs, the Frenchman can come in.

They believe that the Rome club want a fee of over €50m to sell the 26-year-old but that information seems to be quite different to the price tag of €35m which has been reported earlier.

So perhaps, all of it is just some guess-work from the Italian media and another attempt to simply talk about Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, who is unlikely to depart in the summer.
