Newcastle United’s Cheick Tiote is a target for Bursaspor report Fanatik. The 30-year old defensive midfielder is seen as a serious option by their manager Hamza Hamzaoglu and Bursaspor officials are now exploring the possibility of signing him.
Tiote’s move from Newcastle United to Galatasaray failed on deadline day last summer after the Ivorian failed his medical. Galatasaray then moved on and signed former Manchester City player Nigel de Jong. Fanatik say Bursaspor’s physios are wanting a detailed health report on Tiote, and his agent will present the required file in the coming days.
Tiote doesn’t seem to in the plans of Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez and the Spaniard is unlikely to stand in his way if he wants to leave the club.
Bursaspor are looking for a midfielder to partner Ricardo Faty and Tiote certainly has the enough experience to play at this level.
Bursaspor, who won the Turkish League title back in 2010-11 are competing for a European place and are currently sitting in the 5th place.
Signing a player like Tiote would be a statement of intent by the Turkish side and it could help them to push on for the rest of the season.
Tiote had spells with Anderlecht, Roda and Twente before he joined Newcastle United.
