Newcastle United have made a late bid to sign defender/midfielder Boubacar Kamara from Marseille before tonight’s deadline.
That’s according to Le Phoceen, who say the French club have to sell before they can continue to add to their squad.
They could now be prevented with a chance to do just that, with an offer from Newcastle having arrived on Pablo Longoria’s desk from Newcastle for defender Boubacar Kamara.
However, it seems the Magpies have some convincing to do as the player is said to be ‘extremely hesitant’ about making the move to St James Park.
The nature of the bid from Newcastle isn’t mentioned, nor whether Marseille would consider accepting it, just that an offer or some sort has arrived.
We’ll assume the figure can’t be that high given the tight finances at Newcastle and the fact they’ve already signed Joe Willock for £26.46m.
A loan move would make more sense unless Mike Ashley has suddenly decided to open the chequebook for Steve Bruce. We’ll wait for more details to find out.
