Newcastle United have made an initial move for Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara over a potential €40m move this summer.
That’s according to Africa Foot, who report that Newcastle are ‘already making inroads’ ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to their information, Newcastle’s management have established initial contact with Bournemouth and the player’s staff about a transfer.
Initial discussions have taken place between the two clubs about a deal worth €40m, with Newcastle keen as they seek a versatile winger for their squad.
Ouattara fits the bill perfectly and has been impressing for Bournemouth this season, with nine goals and four assists to his name this season. That’s attracted the Magpies, who have made him one of their priorities for next season.
Bournemouth will push for a top price for the 23-year-old, who cost them €22.5m to sign from FC Lorient in January 2023. His current deal runs until June 2028 so there is no pressure to sell either.
Whether Newcastle would be willing to pay almost double what the Cherries did in 2023 remains to be seen but they’ve seemingly registered their interest and started conversations with their Premier League counterparts, nonetheless.
