Despite the summer window having closed less than a week ago, it doesn’t mean an end to transfer rumours.
Clubs will be looking to secure options for what they missed out on during the last market, and lining up business ahead of future windows.
For Newcastle United that means looking towards South America, and specifically towards the Brazilian market. Globo Esporte, one of the biggest sport media outlets in the country, reports Newcastle have made a €35m offer for Andrey Santos.
The 18-year-old has just agreed to a new contract with Vasco da Gama, but he’s still of interest to multiple clubs, with Barcelona also being linked recently.
Globo say Newcastle have submitted an offer ‘in recent days’ via Giuliano Bertolucci, an agent who has a strong track record of taking players from Brazil to Europe. The €35m proposal will be ‘discussed in the coming days’, and the Newcastle project is said to please Andrey Santos and those who work with him.
The youngster would obviously only be able to move from the next window onwards, but that wouldn’t stop a deal being agreed now.
