Newcastle United’s pursuit of Nicolas Pepe during the January window was well documented. Angers were keen to sell the attacker midway through the season, and Pepe wasn’t pushing for the move either.
Everything was put on hold until the summer, and then interest kicked off again. In their Friday edition, L’Equipe say Newcastle have submitted a €10m offer for Pepe, but Watford have gone even higher at €13m.
Hull City were linked with Pepe during January, and with Marco Silva now moving to Watford, the club’s interest would make sense.
However, the problem for both Newcastle and Watford is Pepe doesn’t feel he’s ready for the Premier League. If the 22 year old is so concerned then he’s probably right, he’s not ready for the Premier League.
Lyon, Lille, and Nice are all interested, and Angers will have to accept less than they would have done had Pepe moved to England this summer.
