On Wednesday, there were indications from France that Nottingham Forest had made a late attempt to sign Marseille’s Luis Henrique and take him from Inter Milan’s clutches.
It’s now been claimed Newcastle United did the same.
The claim comes from TuttoSport in Italy and they believe that the Brazilian is preparing to join Inter Milan already and a move will go through soon. Newcastle United have tried their best to change things and made a ‘last-minute attempt’ to snatch the versatile right winger.
They offered a major financial package to lure Luis Henrique and also wanted to use their newly-acquired Champions League status to tempt the player.
Newcastle United’s attempts haven’t yielded anything 23-year-old had already chosen to join Inter and has rejected any further offers that have come his way. Nottingham Forest and Juventus had also applied pressure to change his mind.
The Nerazzurri will land the player, who will join on the 1st of June when the transfer window opens. Marseille will earn a fee of €23m plus bonuses of €2m as part of the move. Luis Henrique will earn a wage of €2.2m, after tax, per season and sign a contract that runs out in the summer of 2030.
