Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has finally been involved in his first game for Ajax after playing in a friendly match today. The Netherlands international is currently on loan with the Dutch giants as he looks to recover from the serious knee injury he sustained last season.

Voetbal International have confirmed Krul played in the game between Achilles ’29 and Ajax, which has been labelled as his unofficial debut for the club. Krul’s previous action came two weeks ago in a practise match between Ajax and Ajax A1.

The Dutch giants ran out 2-0 winners over their Jupiler League opponents, and the Newcastle United star will now be hoping he’s not too far off making his competitive debut for Ajax’s first team after two months back in his home country.

Due to Newcastle United signing Matz Sels early in the last transfer window from Gent, Krul has gone on loan to Ajax to get more opportunities. The Holland international played just nine games for Newcastle United in the last campaign before his injury on international duty.
