Newcastle United midfielder Siem de Jong has told the Dutch media he could be sidelined again with injury. The Dutchman is currently on loan with PSV, and during his time at Newcastle United he was plagued with injury problems.
Speaking to Voetbal International after yesterday’s game between PSV and Ajax, De Jong was asked about the issues he had towards the end of the match. De Jong said he believes something is wrong, but he doesn’t know the extent of the injury.
The Newcastle United loanee revealed they will evaluate the problem on Monday, and believes he’s cursed following the injury problems he’s had in recent years.
“Hopefully it’s not too serious, but I think it’s something. We will see tomorrow what it is. It sucks, I just felt something in the final minutes. It’s always something else,” said De Jong.
De Jong joined Newcastle United in 2014, but has only played 22 league games for the club due to injury. The 27-year-old was sent out on loan by Rafa Benitez to get more playing time at PSV, and yesterday he scored the Dutch champions leveller in the 1-1 draw with Ajax.
